Mike Pence is less a vice president and more a prop. He’s around to give a thin film of decency to Donald Trump’s embarrassing nonsense, and it’s been a long week of embarrassing nonsense. His Puerto Rico trip was a disaster. The news broke that Trump’s kids were almost charged with a felony. He called nearly 60 people dying in Las Vegas a “miracle.” Looks like it’s time for Mike Pence to take some of the heat off. And since Trump’s making NFL protests the hill he wants to die on, Pence headed to Indianapolis to see the Colts play the 49ers. Then left almost immediately.
